Organisation und Evolution arbeitsteiliger Systeme - Erfahrungen aus der japanischen Wirtschaftsentwicklung (Organization and Evolution of Systems Based on Division of Labour - Experiences from Japan's Economic Development)
In the 1990s, the Japanese national economy changed from the prodigy to the problem child of the world economy. With the decline of real estate prices and the fall of stocks since the beginning of the 1990s, many of the innumerable “revelations” of the secrets of Japan’s success have lost their value, and the explanations they offer have proved overly static and partial.
This monograph formulates and pursues an alternative approach that avoids the mistakes inherent in the static and partial explanatory models. This approach is dynamically oriented and takes into account the interdependence between different sections of economic systems. The monograph takes a step into an important field of research in conceptual and analytical matters that is still largely unsystematized. As a contribution to research on Japan, it provides a reinterpretation of postwar economic development, an interpretation that integrates the success, limits and contradictions of the Japanese pattern of development into a consistent overall picture.
