Formierung und Fall der Achse Berlin-Tōkyō (ベルリン=東京枢軸の成立と崩壊（独文）)

This volume is based on the contributions to a symposium on “German-Japanese Relations in the 1930s and 1940s” held in 1992 at the Japanese-German Center Berlin. Nine articles endeavor to shed light on this period which has still not been fully researched, and yet remains so important to mutual relations right up to the present. The book contains essays on the history of German-Japanese relations from 1933 to 1945, especially during the Second World War, studies on the role of the Japanese embassy in Berlin at that time, a detailed analysis of the technical cooperation between the two countries during the years 1930 to 1945, as well as articles on their intellectual and ideological foundations and cultural relations, in particular the Japanese reception of German “heroic” literature, Japanese studies under Nazism, Japan’s “policy toward Jews” between 1931 and 1945 as well as the relationship between music and politics in Tokyo in the years 1934-1944.
