Japan - high growth rates, stagnation and recovery
February 20, 2006 / 6.30 P.M.
Dr. Mechthild Schrooten, Professor, Hitotsubashi University
Japan’s economic growth is at the core of this study. We analyze the impact of the different demand components on the volatility of the overall economic development. Important questions are: Did the feature of business cycle change over time? Are there any observable co-movements with the US economy? What is the impact of financial reform? The study is part of a general overview on the Japan economy and offers some insights into the economics of growth and the technique of business cycle analysis.
