Dementia - Current Issues in Long-Term Care, Medical Care and Legal Support

 Since both Germany and Japan have rapidly aging societies, the number of people with dementia is constantly increasing. The purpose of this symposium is firstly to address how long-term care, medical care and legal support systems in both countries have so far dealt with dementia patients. Participants will examine which areas need further improvement and how changes can be implemented. Secondly, the discussion will center on issues of future comparative research and dementia-related issues. The symposium is the starting point for a joint German-Japanese research project on dementia.
