Aging and Social Policy - A German-Japanese Comparison

In the last few decades the percentage of old people in the population has increased to a great extent in Japan as well as Germany. By now, Japan is on the verge of introducing a health insurance scheme, similar to the one introduced in Germany a few years ago. This is the background for the above symposium which aims at pointing out the similarities as well as differences regarding the demographic situation in both countries as well their social policy strategy regarding long-term care.
