Background and aim
The information event is part of an on-going international research project that investigates the “Effectiveness of multicultural teams”. Key results of previous research will be presented and the newly starting Japan project conducted jointly by the Institute of Leadership and Organisation at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo will be introduced.

Global Strategies Demand Global Collaboration

Global collaborations within and between companies are typically organized in multinational teams consisting of members from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Despite the potential benefits of multinational teams, various challenges to collaboration persist. Prof. Martin Hoegl will present some key results from recent studies on collaboration and leadership in multinational teams. Based on the results of the studies, key challenges of multinational teamwork will be presented, along with suggestions of how to successfully overcome such challenges and install multinational teamwork.

The Japan Project

The Institute of Leadership and Organisation at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo are planning an online survey among Japanese companies. Julia Backhaus, member of the research team in Munich, will explain the structure, content and implementation of the survey and how survey results will be reported back to participating companies.
